Personalities Inspire Trading Cards For Grown-Ups
Corporate Kingdom explores lighter side of dysfunctional
characters in the workplace
'I'm going
to kill you' and other fun phrases you love to hear at work
By Steve Hawkins
Slave Driver and CEO
"You b-#@%! I'm going
to kill you!"
Those words were my first
introduction to The Erupter, one the many memorable characters
that inspired the Corporate Kingdom, a company dedicated to having
fun with workplace personalities.
Of course, I wasn't having
fun at the time, cowering at my desk in the newsroom of a daily
newspaper. The target of the angry reporter's tirade, an editor
who had cut The Erupter's story, amazingly stood her ground, which
was incredibly brave since The Erupter was a foot and half taller,
100 pounds heavier and a lot angrier. Plus he was known to have
a serious arsenal of weapons.
Thankfully, the showdown
ended without violence, and The Erupter wasn't fired (it was 1988,
and death threats hadn't yet become politically incorrect). But
since then I've been astonished at the funny and ridiculous behavior
we endure every day at work. So we created the Corporate Kingdom
so you can have fun with all those "special" people
at work.
Corporate Kingdom trading
cards and other merchandise are intended to give workers a fun
pastime and relief from work-related stress. It's meant to be
a fun diversion for grown-ups who may have enjoyed cards like
Garbage Pail Kids® or publications like Mad Magazine®
when they were younger. Our mugs and calendars make a perfect
office gift for deserving co-workers and are especially fun for
those confident individuals who can actually laugh at themselves.
Corporate Kingdom's initial
release of Trading Cards includes 21 recognizable office personalities,
such as Control Freak, Slave Driver, Slacker, Backstabber, Mr.
Obsolete, Power Monger, Hypochondriac, Letch, Fall Guy, Office
Bimbo, Delegator, Space Invader, Erupter, Bean Counter, Gosseptionist,
Martyr, Loose Cannon, Big Mug Betty, Prima Donna and Brown Noser.
We hope you have fun with our products .
. . and be sure to steer clear of The Erupter.
